I have downloaded the patch to Word 2007 which allows me to 'open' MDI files
created under Word 2003. However all I see is gibberish. Do I need a print driver to read these files? If so, since there is no driver for 64bit systems, how can I recover these files? |

Which patch would that be? MDI is a graphical format used by Microsoft
Office Document Imaging. It is not a file format that can be *opened* in Word. Use Microsoft Office Document Imaging to convert the file to Word format. Microsoft Office Document Imaging is supplied with Office 2007 but not installed by default. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Omega wrote: I have downloaded the patch to Word 2007 which allows me to 'open' MDI files created under Word 2003. I went to Control Panel, Programs & Features, MS Office Prof + 2007, Change,
add Features,Office Tools,'Microsoft Office Document Imaging' then 'Run All From My Computer' and rebooted. I realize that this isn't really a patch. I still cannot READ MDI files. I think it is a 64bit problem. "Graham Mayor" wrote: Which patch would that be? MDI is a graphical format used by Microsoft Office Document Imaging. Open the Microsoft Office Document Imaging application and then from that
open the MDI file. It will not open in Word. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Omega wrote: I went to Control Panel, Programs & Features, MS Office Prof + 2007, Change, add Features,Office Tools,'Microsoft Office Document Imaging' then 'Run All From My Computer' and rebooted. That isn't clear in the Microsoft instructions! |
