This is a new one for me - I have a document opened, but when I attempt to
open the review pane it causes the document to "jiggle" on the screen and it
continues to do so until I close the review pane again. Closing and
reopening the document doesn't seem to work. Has anyone else experienced
this?

What version of Word are you using, 2007?
The only time I get the 'jiggle', talking about using Word not my private
life ;-), is when I have the White Space hidden and I am working in a table.
If I show the White Space the jiggling stops.
