I have to assume you're using Word 2003 or earlier, and that you mean the drawing grid controlled through the Grid dialog on the Draw menu of the Drawing toolbar. If so, do you mean that you check the box for "Display gridlines on screen" and nothing appears? Try changing the zoom setting or the grid spacing.
