In a factory default installation, "Different first page" is turned off.
However, if you have enabled "Different first page" in a section of your document, and then add a section break with the insertion point in that section, the setting will be duplicated into the newly created section. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "LisaK" wrote in message ... Moreover, if you add a cover page, Word enables "Different first page" in
order to insert the cover page with different content in the header/footer. -- Suzanne S.
