[Kicker]

I have a document formatted for Information Mapping in which all headers
appear in one column and all bopdy text appears in a second column. When I
try to create a TOC the TOC includes all of the text in both columns. I
cant format just to first column as a TOC field it seems.

Is there a way to make this work?

Also - is it possible to have two paragraphs appear as a single entry in the
TOC. For example, sections numbers in one paragraph and the heading title in
the paragraph directly below this.

First thoughts are that the second column text has an Outline Level attribute
assigned which is not Body Text.
This is usually down to this body text having a style attributed that has an
Outline Level.

Thanks. I tried changing the second column to body text - the first column
changes to the same tag automatically...

This suggests that you're using the same style for both columns, and it's
set to autoupdate. Or one style is based on the other.
