Default change spelling & grammar language

I just started a new job. The computer at my desk was already here. Everytime
I open Word to type a new letter, document, etc. the spell checker is set for
Spanish. How can I change it to stay in English? I can change it for the
current document that I am working on, but it changes back each time I close
it out. Help!
