Hi
Is there any way to exclude records in a mail merge, if a particular field contains "x" string in a particular field? TIA Cathy Allington |

You can either
a. try to create the data source you need (e.g. if you are filtering an Access table, you could consider creating an Access query that does the exclusion, or b. try to use Edit-Recipients to apply a filter. How to do it depends on the version of Word - In 2007 click the Filter option. In Word 2002/2003, click the dropdown at the top of one of the data columns in the dialog box, the used Advanced... or c. insert a SKIPIF field like this { SKIPIF { MERGEFIELD myfield } = "x" } where all the {} are the special field code braces you can insert using ctrl-F9. The problem with SKIPIF is that it actually cancels merging for that copy of the mail merge main document - if for example you are trying to merge labels, you can't use it without further effort.
