In typing legal documents how can I get the page numbers to go with the
headings in a document e.g., Article 1 has to have page numbers starting with
1-1, 1-2, etc. Article 2 should have page numbers 2-1, 2-2, etc. Is there
any way to get these pages numbered automatically?

Check the Include Chapter Number box in the Format Page Numbers dialog.
