Who made the Equation Editor virtually impossible to use?
The eedjit who trashed this is obviously not a scientist, mathematician or engineering. Example, try entring the Navier-Stokes conservation of momentum equations in less that two hours It has got to be the most appauling UI ever designed. Mathcad is light years ahead with a few additional toobars that can be parked - undocked - where I need them and always ready to use I for one will be going back to Office 2000 which has a far superior Equations Editor and so I'm told does Office 2003 -- Hunky Chunky Funky Dunky "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I''m not sure about the former." If you have MathCAD and Word 2007, why not combine the best of two worlds?
Type your equations in MathCAD and copy/paste them into Word 2007. Both MathCAD and Word 2007 'speak' MathML, so there shouldn't be any problem moving information between the two of them. That said, if you are serious about inserting math equations directly in Word 2007, you should check out the linear format and the Math AutoCorrect options instead of toying around with UI. Note that most of the autocorrect entries are the names of the symbols as specified by the unicode standard. So you probably already know them.
