Files don't change extension automatically. How do you submit them to your
professor? Are you using some kind of website / tool to upload them? If so, you might want to check out what the tool does with them. They aren't "converting". All you are doing is sending your professor a link
to the shortcut. You need to make sure you attach the .doc file. -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] Tech Editor for "Microsoft Publisher 2007 For Dummies" "wordgem" wrote in message ... when i complete assignments for class. i save them on my computer as .doc files. I submit them to my professor they automatically convert to .ink file. the professor is unable to open I think you'll find that the extension is ".lnk" (with an ell) rather than ".ink", and that means it's a shortcut to the document and not the document itself. Since your professor doesn't have any way to follow the shortcut back to your computer, it isn't surprising that s/he can't open it. Are you submitting the document by email? If so, use the email program's Attach File command instead of drag-and-drop. If instead you're copying the document to a file server, use the copy and paste commands. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |
