Default Association for.doc is Adobe Reader 8. I cannot change it to word?

Word 2003 won't let me add Winword as a program to associate with files.
Only Word pad

Sirrupe,

In the past to fix a file assocation issue i would unistall the
software(Office/Word) restart then reinstall. Normally that has fixed the
issue for me.
