Default Object is not registered

I have Windows 7 and Office 2003. As I was ready to send an email with a
large number of addressees, I get a message that says "Object is not
registered" and it won't let me send or save the email. What does this mean,
how do I get around it, and how do I prevent it from happening again? This is
frustrating as I may have to enter all the email addresses again.
