Good Morning
I am creating several online word forms and have a situation where in a two column table, I require several hundred characters in the form field in the left column in the third row of a 12 row table. After protecting the form, when that particular field is reached, as typing progresses, the column width increases, pushing the entire right column to the right. Question is how can I set this so when the user reaches the 25th character, word wrapping occurs rather than continuing on the same line. Thanks for the help. Marsh |

There's no way to set a particular number of characters, but you can
approximate that behavior. If the form is a protected one, unprotect it. Temporarily put 25 characters into the field in question. (Note that if the font in use is a proportional one, the actual width will depend on which characters you've typed. The only way to avoid that is to format the field to use a nonproportional font such as Courier New.) Adjust all the other column widths as needed. On the Table Tools Layout tab of the ribbon, click the AutoFit button and choose Fixed Column Width. This prevents the cell widths from changing with typing. It applies to the entire table, not just one column. If necessary, reprotect the form. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit.
