Default Word cannot open hyperlink

Hi there

I have a problem with Word and Excels hyperlinks, which won't open. I get
the message "Unable to open ... Cannot download the information you
requested", when I click on the hyperlink from within Word/Excel. There's no
problem accessing the link from a browser.

What is Word doing that is non standard here? Why is it unable to open the
hyperlink when any browser is able to?

The link BTW points to an Apache server that uses URL-rewriting.

Regards,
Rune

You might want to check your firewall / internet security suite to see if
Word is allowed to start other processes and / or access the Internet.

Default Word cannot open hyperlink

Hi Yves

Thanks, but on my Mac the firewall is completely off. Also the problem
persist no matter which edition of Word on Windows or Mac, that I use.

I think I read somewhere that Office uses it's own internal browser first to
open the link and that might conflict with rewrites/redirects/port stuff?

I finally figured out the problem. The reason was that my website returned af
405 error (my mistake) on the first page even though the page loaded
correctly in a browser. Office sees this as an error and won't load the page
even though it's served.
