Default Can't Backup Normal Template

I'm using MS Word 2007 on Vista, and my normal.dotm template file was recently compromised, so Word generated a fresh one. I lost my macros and many customizations.

As I redo all my customizations, I want to backup the normal.dotm file, but when I go to the folder that it's in (C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates), the "date modified" date doesn't get updated. The date and time stamp represent when the new template file was generated, but it never changes.

I could save this file elsewhere but I don't think my new customizations will be included. Nevertheless, when I open a new Word doc, the customizations and macros are all present. So where is my most recent normal.dotm file, if it's not in the Templates folder? How can I back it up?
