Default Master Documents

Hi. Is it still unadvisable to use Master Documents in MS Word (2003)? If
so, why hasn't MS done something to fix this feature, because I'm sure it
would prove to be very useful, if they ever get it to work? Are there any
good workarounds or alternatives? Thank you.

Rebecca:
Here is what one person thinks of Word's Master Documents featu
Word doesn't do a good job with relative links in any circumstances.

If you ahven't read any of these articles, you may want to peruse them.
Using Master Documents is equivalent conciously trying to corrupt your
files.

If, however, you wish to pursue the use of the Master Document feature,
click the following link. Be very careful if you choose to use the MD
feature.

It has not been fixed, the probable reason being the cost of fixing it in
relation to the benefit. Word will handle very long and complex documents as
a single file and so it is hardly essential. Investigate also the
IncludeText field function.
