Default AutoComplete in Word

When I start to type in the date (May 16) the AutoComplete pops up, recently
the
format of the date in the screentip has changed to May 16, 05. How do I
change it back to May 16, 2005?

The long date format is set at:
MMMM d, yyyy

When I hold the mouse over the clock, it gives the correct date format.
Sometimes it gives the correct format in the AutoComplete when I'm typing in
a header or
footer.

Thanks.

I'm not sure whether it will help or not, but try selecting MMMM d, yyyy as
the default date format in Insert | Date and Time.

And just to clarify, this is also selected as the default in Control Panel |
Regional Options?

Yes, the same format is selected for the long date in Control Panel |
Regional Options. Perhaps the only fix is to try reinstalling Word?

No, reinstalling rarely helps in such instances, and I suspect there may not
be a fix. This is a different manifestation but seems very similar to the
AutoComplete error that adds yyyy-mm-dd to the end of already entered dates,
and no one has solved that one, either. I suggest that you create your own
AutoText entry of the Date or CreateDate field and give it a unique name at
least four characters long; then type (or begin to type that name) instead
of the date and accept its AutoComplete tip. If you just want the current
date as text, I'm afraid that won't help much (though the CreateDate field
would amount to the same thing in a new document), but you could insert a
Date field and immediately unlink it.

I'm sorry not to be more helpful, but, as I say, no solution has been found
to similar problems, so I don't have much hope for this one.
