Computer has recently started opening all word documents in publisher. How
can I turn this off?

Given that Publisher is incompatible with Word format, I find this hard to
believe. What I suspect you mean is that the file association in Windows
Explorer now has DOC allocated to Publisher. To reset it to Word see
