page numbers
I am trying to renumber pages on a 100 page document. I did not create this
document. The page numbers are not sequential. Can anyone help me figure this out. I'm at my wits end. I think that section assignments might be theproblem?? Thanks anyone. Ben |

Then if you want something different, at least you know what you're starting from. Open the document in Print Layout view. Put the cursor at the beginning of the text on the first page and click View Header and Footer. Besides popping you into the Header pane, that will display the Header/Footer toolbar. On the toolbar, the third icon from the left shows the tooltip "Format Page Number". Click it to open its dialog. Near the bottom of the dialog are two option buttons, "Continue from previous section" and "Start at". Since you're currently looking at Section 1, it doesn't make much sense to continue from a nonexistent "previous" section, but that option should be selected. Click OK. On the toolbar, just to the left of the Close button, is one that says "Show Next". Click that (maybe more than once, depending on whether first-page or even-odd headers exist) until you're in Section 2. Click the "Format Page Number" button, make sure the "Continue from previous section" option is selected, and click OK. Repeat this step until you have reset or verified every section in the document, and they're all continuous. Finally, click the Close button to return to the document body. Jay,
What can I say. "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you". It solved a big problem for me. The only sad note is that I wasn't able to figure it out by myself. Have a good week.
