I have a user who has a 1000 + page mail merge that can print page ranges
early on in the document but can only print current pages near the end of the
document.

i was hoping that someone might know if this was a known fault or maybe how
I can fix the problem

Mail merges come out as multi-section documents, so you have to print by
including section number, not just page numbers. The relevant Help topic is
" Print specific pages and sections" and it explains all your options.
