I have one masterdocument with links to 8 different subdocuments. I now would
like to shift all the files (subdocuments) and the master document into a completely different directory. How do I update the subdocument links so that when I open my master document in the new directory, it links to all the subdocuments in the new directory? Anyone? Thanks. ta |

See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=180142 "WD: General Information
About Master Documents". The article contains instructions addressing "Renaming or Changing the Location of a Subdocument". Hi Camelia
Camelia P wrote: Does anybody know a better solution? The solution provided is almost useless when the master documents opens a big number of subdocuments. why useless? Doesn't it get you there, or does it take too much time? In the latter case, you can try automating it (through VBA, for instance). Maybe easier than devising a method to adjust the Subdocument location might be to completely rebuild the Master (in code). See also the last of my MD links for a method that might suit you better: Why Master Documents corrupt (by John McGhie) http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/Wh...ocsCorrupt.htm How can I recover a corrupt document or template €“ and why did it become corrupt?
