Trouble: Two-page mail merge printing
I've got a two page letter, 100 copies via mail merge. In the page setup,
I'm asking it to print page 1 from manual feed, page 2 from bottom tray (letterhead, plain second page). I cannot for the life of me get it to cooperate. Wants to keep taking everything from the manual feed. I only have these two options on my printer - manual and a bottom tray. Any workaround on this, or is it a printer issue? Thanks! |

I had a 2 page document I used to print where I used to work (word
processing at Group Health Cooperative) and this is before we got the duplex printer. So we had letteread in the top tray and plain paper in the bottom tray. I am going to really tax my brain on this one G As I recall it, we had a section break between the 1st and 2nd page. in the first page setup (printing) it was directed to the top tray. The 2nd page was directed to the bottom tray. I know it was a little more involved than that, and I will see if I can remember more later. I really have to think about it. It's been awhile since I did this stuff. And to think - I used to create (from scratch) mail merge letters for the different depts for whom we did letters (and believe me, there were literally hundreds of templates, including signature blocks). GAWD! Talk about a senior moment! sigh Cynthia |

If you have specified the paper trays for the mail merge main document, then
your completed merge should use the correct trays for each section (letter). If you try to set paper trays for the completed merge, you would have to set the trays for each section separately. -- Suzanne S. Yes, that's how you do it. Use a Next Page section break at the bottom of
the first page. Then place the cursor in first section, go to Page Setup, and select the tray to be used for that section. Close the box, put the cursor in the second section (second page) and repeat, using the other tray in the settings. Ohhhh, now I get it. I was at the top of my letter, telling it where to
print from on the first page only. Very cool. Off to give it a go! Thanks everyone! "Suzanne S. Hm, still not working for me...
I have the two page original letter. Divided by a "next page" to page 2. I've tried this on my two network printers.... still coming from one tray only. Weird. But I'll keep tweaking it. "Suzanne S. If the "next page" is a section break, then you'll need to set the paper
tray for the second section separately. If it's just a page break, this shouldn't cause problems. -- Suzanne S. Discovered my error. I wasn't treating each "section" of the two-page letter
as each an individual page, as page 1, when assigning the trays. I kept treating it as page 1 and page 2. If this makes sense. Once I went to each individual section, and set which tray I wanted the first page of THAT section to pull from, voila! Thanks again everyone. "Littlebear" wrote: Hm, still not working for me...
