Default Can't load Word 2000

I lost my hard drive!!! Now I have XP and I can't get my computer to read
disk 2 to install. Is it comtatable or do I have to spend more money to get
another version? Please help me. I may end up going low tech and booting
computer out the window!!

Please remember that throwing your computer out of the window will violate
your warranty.

When you say it won't read it, what exactly do you mean?

I put in disk one, select word , it asks for disk 2. I put in disk 2, it
starts doing its thing then.... It say that it can't be read through
specified device. I tried both regular and burner drives but no luck. Any
thoughts??? A short drop with a sudden stop out the window would make me feel
better!!!!

I can understand the desire to watch that sudden stop however computers tend
to work less than optimally after said stop.

Have you tried cleaning the disk? I know, this sounds silly but you'd be
surprised what a smudge can do.

I'm not qualified to answer *that* question.

I'd suggest trying to load the program on another system. If it doesn't
work, you have a bad disk. If it does work, scratch your head and say "What
the heck is going on here?!"

If it is a bad disk, see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326246 for
how to get a replacement.
