I want to set up a paragraph style to show the text on a pale grey
background. I have tried to do this by setting BorderShading and choosing a colour, and then using BorderBordersOptionsBorders&ShadingOptions, setting "from text" top and bottom both to 6pt, to get a suitable amount around the edge. I have two problems with this: Firstly, unless I also set up a Border, then it seems to ignore the "from text" setting, and the shading is tight around the text. I can get round this by setting up a border using the same colour as the shading, but the colours offered seem to be slightly different and the eagle-eyed can see that its a border. Second, and more important, if I use this style immediately after a page break, then the shading gets applied to the page break as well, and I get a grey strip at the bottom of the previous page. I have tried varying the "space before" setting (thinking perhaps that needed to be bigger than the "from text" setting), but that makes no difference. It also seems to make no difference whether I use a Fill colour or a pattern for the shading. Any suggestions please? |

To solve the first problem, add a *white* border.
To solve the second problem, don't use a manual page break; instead, format the paragraph/style as "Page break before." -- Suzanne S.
