Default 'Squashed' text

Sometimes when I open up one of my documents, some of the text squashes
itself down the left hand margin and will not allow itself to be deleted.
The only way I seem to be able to fix the problem is to shut down my pc and
restart.

It usually happens when I am about to print a finished document. I may
print one copy off and then look back at my screen and the text has moved by
itself. It looks as if each letter is sat on top of all of the other letters.
I have scanned my pc for viruses and nothing has been found.

I am using Word 2003.

In the search for box of this newsgroup type "squashed text" and depress

Hi Nichola,

If you use File=Print and switch/switch-back
or reaffirm the properties of the selected driver that
seems to help.

If that works then close Word and
use Start=Search to locate and delete files found
with the search string:
~$*.*;*.tmp
then restart Word. Does the problem then clear up?

It appears that in some cases Word
(which relies on the printer driver for page layout
information) loses track, or misreads, the driver due
to something in temp files.

What is the build version of Word from Help=About?

What make and model of printer driver are you using?

Do you have the MS Remove Hidden Data Office Add-in
installed?
