Default Keyboard shortcuts Word Office 2003

Before I switched to Word in Office 2003, CTRL+B used to embolden selected
text only. Now it emboldens the whole document. I then have to type CTRL+Z to
get what I want - (returning all but the selected text to non-bold and
leaving selected text bold). Same goes for CTRL+I, +U etc).
