I want to print only the index to check it. Why doesn't it print?

The index will probably be in a separate section. Try printing just that
section (s2 or s3 or whatever number it is); or you can print the specific pages, but you will need to include the section number as well: p50s2-p52s2, for example. -- Suzanne S.
