I have always been able to just hit the exit button in Word and it asks me if
I want to save my document. I'm talking when I DO make changes. Recently, I hit the exit button after doing my work, and it doesn't prompt me to save my changes. I didn't turn anything off, I don't think. I'm so used to just hitting the "X" now without going to File then Save As that I want this feature turned back on. Any suggestions? Thanks, Stephanie Terry |

See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=816473 "You are prompted
to save changes when you close a Word 2002 document even though you have made no changes". I don't think that's what's being asked. It sounds
more like a changed document just "closes" instead of asking to Save Changes first, as is normal. I invite the OP to clarify. Pop "garfield-n-odie" wrote in message ... Hi Stephanie-
The question is 'Are the changes being saved' even though you aren't prompted? If so, you are probably working in a version of Word that uses Auto Save. Look in the Tools Menu to see if Auto Save appears there & is checked. If so, just select it to remove the check. If this isn't the case, indicate your version of Word when you post back. I think even Excel has only an automatic backup or auto recovery.
