My copy of word 2002 suddenly started doing a "Preparing to install" routine
and then asking me to insert a cdrom - I can cancel this each time and then word will start, but I would like to get rid of this glitch. I think it has something to do with telling the system that I want word to run off the hard disk and not the cdrom, but I don't know how to do this. Thanks for help |

When it suddenly starts prompting out of the blue, it's usually because of
registry corruption, or because you installed something as "Install on first use". If it's a registry issue, the instructions on deleting the Data key in the following link will help: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...peningWord.htm If it's an "Install on first use" issue, try Start - Settings - Add/Remove Programs - Microsoft Office, etc. and take a look to see if any features are set up for first use install. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along. http://www.herbtyson.com "FrankSpokane" wrote in message ...
