Default word 2002 tables

I have a table in word 2002 that was imported from Corel. Each row in the
table contains 2 text lines. I want to delete one of the text lines... the
top text line. I can't figure out how to do that without deleting the entire
row.

Can't you select just the text you want to delete, then tap the Delete key?

No unfortunately. When I do as you suggested, the entire cell gets deleted.
It is really baffling. Thanks for your reply though.

Is the text in the cell a field result?
