Default Frozen document

My microsoft word document suddenly froze and went "microsoft word not
responding" The hourglass is showing and it will not let me save the
document.
What should I do? I do not want to lose the hours I have put into making
the document?

The application has crashed. With luck and assuming you have the autorecover
option set, if you force Word to restart it *may* recover the document
automatically. Otherwise you are going to be unlucky.

You should work with the option to save a backup set and save your work
regularly. It is much simpler to clear unwanted backup files from the hard
drive than to re-type. You should not be in the position of losing 'hours of
work'.

The crash will leave lots of temporary files around, in the document,
template and temp folders. There is a remote possibility that one of these
orphan files may contain some of your work. If not and having exhausted the
suggestions, then these temp files should be removed as they will interfere
with the smooth running of Word.

It is hard to say why the application crashed, but if it is a Word issue,
the answer will be found at
