I have a document that has a cover page and the table of contents on page 2.
The page numbering in the main document is set to ignore the cover page and works fine. However, the TOC recognizes the coverpage which then seems that the pages are off by one page. How can I get the TOC page numbering to ignore the cover page? |

It sounds as if you may have changed the page numbering by using a
calculated field instead of using a section break and restarting numbering (or in the case of a single uncounted page, you can start numbering for the whole document at 0). The page numbers reported in the TOC are the ones represented by the { PAGE } field, even if what is printed on the page is, say { = { PAGE } - 1 }. -- Suzanne S. Thanks Suzanne! That worked out perfectly. I do have a follow-up quesiton
however. What I doing is creating a mail merge document. After I merge to a new document, theTOC has hyperlinks and the page number reference shows "Bookmark not found". Could you help me out with this? "Suzanne S. I'm not sure a TOC is compatible with a mail merge, but you might try
updating the TOC (F9) after merging. -- Suzanne S. I feared just as much. To work around it I just created a macro that would
copy and paste from the template to the merged document. Thanks again for your help. "Suzanne S.
