Default Lost my macros...

Hi there, using W02 on XP. Creating a document that will allow user to use
shortcut keys (Alt+a, Alt+b, etc.) to insert names on a schedule. Have saved
the names as macros and assigned them to shortcut keys. So when I put my
cursor into the assigment column, I can press Alt+d, tab, Alt+m, etc and the
person's name appears where I run the macro. Works great until I save the
file to a disk. I saved the macros to work with the file rather than global
since it will need to work on any PC. I want to be able to share the file to
distant users so they can fill in the names easily too. What easy step am I
missing?

Would appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!

When you record a macro, are you sure you are storing it in the document
rather than in normal.dot? Do you have Acrobat 7 on your computer?

Hi Charles, Thanks for the quick response.

I created a template with a grid for who is assigned to do what the next
work day. When I copy the .dot file to a disk or send to another PC I get
the 'Macros in this project have been disabled. Refer to the online help or
application documentation' etc. I try to record a macro in the .dot file
that is on the disk and get the same message. When I record the macros and
assign a shortcut, I select the 'save changes in' my file (Assign.dot).

What am I doing wrong? Should I be using a .doc?

The problem is that your macros are not being run because of macro security
settings. Your template should be put in the user or workgroup templates
folder, and the option in macro security checked to trust installed
templates and add-ins.
