Default Merging dates from an access data base to a word document.

I've tryed to merge a date field from an access data base in to a word
document, i can not get it to read U.K style ie,30/1/05 not 1/30/05.(U.S
style)
All formats in access are dd/mm/yyyy.
How do i do it?
