For some reason, now, when I am in a document (actually, it is set up as a
template) that I have been using for several years, and try to set the tabs by dragging them, Word is entering another tab, either to the left or right of where I have clicked. It does that when I want to add a new tab, too. I am using Windows XP, with Office Pro 2000. I have always been able to click and drag my tabs (not using the tab set tools) to move them to where I need them, and have always before been able to click and drag the margins (in the rulers) to where I need them. I do not have the "Automatically Update" box checked. This has appeared to have happened shortly after I got my new computer, upgrading from Windows 2000 to XP. I prefer to click where I need tabs, and to click and drag if I need to move them. Same with the margins/rulers. |

Hold down the Alt key when you set the tab. It allows gradations.
