Default Image Display Word 2003

user goes into a document that has a image in it (a line, picture) and
switches to print preview or scrolls down the document ... the image
disapears when scrolling back up or going back to layout from print preview.

I can open document just fine and looked for a setting difference.. but
wanted to get your thoughts.
