Default W2003 Track changes & show/hide button

I have a user who was working on a document with track changes. On this
document, you could only see the tracked changes if the PARAGRAPH MARKS WERE
TURNED ON. If you click the show/hide button, all the added text
disappeared. (I should mention that we use the "old" display method and have
balloons always turned off.)

I just talked with the user and, after he deleted some text, the problem
stopped occurring. He has no idea what he might have deleted.

I cannot reproduce this problem. I have looked through all the menus I can
think of and I cannot find any setting that seemed to be related. I would
say he was crazy if I didn't see the problem myself.

Has anyone ever heard of a problem with track changes where text revisons
only appear when paragraph marks are turned on?

I suspect the deleted text was formatted as Hidden.

No. I had checked that. The text was not marked as hidden.
