So, when you right-click a selected word, Copy is not a choice on the pop-up
menu? What choices are there on the menu? What about when you select a larger block of text? Is Copy still missing? It's very easy to accidentally remove menu items because of a built-in "remove the next thing I choose" command (activated by pressing Ctrl+Alt+[dash on top row of keyboard]. If you've accidentally removed Copy from the shortcut menu, you can restore it in the following way: 1. From the main menu, choose Tools - Customize - Toolbars tab. 2. Under Toolbars, click to select Shortcut Menus. 3. Click on the Reset button; confirm the reset when prompted. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along. http://www.herbtyson.com "help... i think this is a simple problem" help... i think this is a simple wrote in message ... can anyone help |

Are you left-clicking or right-clicking? What are you clicking -- the word you want to copy, or the Copy toolbar button, or the Copy command in the Edit menu? What do you mean by "not a choice" -- is something grayed out, or just not visible? Have you tried using the Ctrl+C shortcut? -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org |

That would suggest that text isn't really selected. How are you highlighting
a word? If you're clicking the highlighter tool, that's not the way. If you're double-clicking the word, then that's one way to select. There are myriad other methods for selecting text, as well. If text *is* actually selected, but the commands are still grayed out... are other commands grayed out as well? If so, then it's possible that you're using a trial version of Word, and it has expired. Choose Help - Activate Product to determine the status of Word. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along. http://www.herbtyson.com "help... i think this is a simple problem" oft.com wrote in message ... all the comands are there... they are just not dark... so i cant pick them "Jay Freedman" wrote: On Mon, 26 Sep 2005 18:20:02 -0700, "help... i think this is a simple problem" help... i think this is a simple wrote: can anyone help Please try to describe the problem more completely (and not in the subject line -- use the space available!). Can you do anything in Word? Could it be that your version was either not
activated or a trial version that has expired? -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] "help... i think this is a simple problem" oft.com wrote in message ... all the comands are there... they are just not dark... so i cant pick them "Jay Freedman" wrote: On Mon, 26 Sep 2005 18:20:02 -0700, "help... i think this is a simple problem" help... i think this is a simple wrote: can anyone help Please try to describe the problem more completely (and not in the subject line -- use the space available!).
