Default Opening word documents

I have read previous post about the same problem I have, in that when
attempting to open a word document, I receive the message "file not
available" , and to open, I have to go to word, open, search for the document
in order to open it. I noticed, that for some reason, I do not have a folder
in my documents and files, user name, that says "Application
Data\Word\Start-up, so this may be the problem. I have reinstalled Office
(2003), several times, but nothing changes. I do not use Norton, so that
cannot be the problem. This problem is especially severe, when I attempt to
use a Access Macro to link to a word document. Anyone have recommendations,
or a solution?
