On your keyboard, press the Insert key once to switch between
Overtype mode (what you are in now) and Insert mode. stressed out wrote: I am about to go crazy I typed a five page paper and i went back to fix my errors and make changes but when i try to insert a word it deletes the text that follows itand is destroying all my work |

Unless you're using the version of Word that removed the Insert key's
assignment from the Overtype toggle. ;-) In which case... Stressed Out can also toggle overtype by double-clicking the OVR on Word's status bar. (If his/her Insert key doesn't work, she/he can put the Insert assignment back using Tools - Customize - Keyboard; set Categories to All Commands; set Commands to Overtype; click in the Press New Shortcut Key field; tap the Insert key; then click Assign - Close - Close). -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along.
