Default Word 2002/2003 mail merge compatibility

Hopefully a simple question, but I can't find an answer at Microsoft.com or
by Googling:

Will a mail merge document created in Word 2003 work if a Word 2002 user
opens it?

This is all on Windows XP Pro; I'm trying to find this out to know if I have
to upgrade everyone in the office from '02 to '02, or (I hope) not.

Thanks!

There's no reason why it shouldn't - both applications have the same
connectivity issues and file compatibility.
