Default cursor control in word

I have done something to Word that is causing my cursor control to operate
differently. Whenever I need to delete a character and replace it, the cursor
moves to the right and replaces the next letter instead of just inserting the
new character. How do I fix this? Thanks

Default

Press the Insert key once to go back to Insert mode. Alternatively,
double-click OVR on the status bar to turn Overtype mode off.
