Default Word/excel help

Got a dilemma that probably isn't too tricky but I can't figure it out.

MS Word 2000

I was working on a mail merge with Excel. Got about halfway through and
had to cancel it out. Closed everything down but now when I open word it
automatically opens Excel and opens a envelope form and goes to the
first item on the old mail merge list. If I try to open a new blank
page I get the same thing. I need to get it back to where it will open
a blank page uopn starting.

Help please..................
