Default Merged dollar values appearing as whole number

I'm using Office 2003 and I'm merging values from excel to word. How do I
format the word field so that the "$" and ".00" appear before/after the
number?

Thank you,
Doug

I am using Office 2002 and having the same problem. I have tried everything
before arriving here for help. Would certainly appreciate any assistance.

Thank you,
Linda
