Default Forms in Word

Is there a way of "checking" a check box in a word form, other than double
clicking it, and altering the properties, this may confuse my form users?

To use a check box form field, you must protect the document for forms,
which then allows the box to be checked with a single click (or by pressing
Spacebar). But if you want a check box that can be used in an unprotected
document, see the page Doug referred you to or
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/add_check_boxes.htm or
http://www.gmayor.com/Macrobutton.htm

These are protected form checkboxes. For them to function properly, the
document should be protected for forms. There are a number of ways to create
and use clickable checkboxes in documents / templates. Some require
protected or locked forms, others do not. Take a look at the Checkbox
template available at
http://www.addbalance.com/word/downl...#CheckboxAddIn for an exploration
of these.
