Default Thesaurus strips inflectional suffixes, dervitional not why?

does thesaurus strips suffix to show related words or it just use its
database for its related words?

for example the word drives (which has a inflectional suffix "s") has no
synonym but it display its related word drive

drives -- drive

while the word "derivational" (which has a derivational suffix "al" and
"tion") has no synonym and it does not display its related words "derive",
"derivation"

isnt that consistency?

Hi ?B?bWFqb3JndWlsZV9iYWdldHM=?=,

A more appropriate group in which to place this question would be
word.spelling.grammar

Be sure to mention the VERSION of Word you have.
