Default Link from one word doc to a specific header in another doc

I'm having difficulty linking from one word document section to another word
document header.
Specifically I have a form template for some end users where they will be
filling in some information. Because of the detailed information there is
also an instruction guide that matches the form section for section. I'd
like to allow the users to link directly from the form they are filling out
to the exact section (heading) in the instruction guide.

Any suggestions?

Hi Patrick

I've been thinking about your problem ever since I saw your message and I've
been 'dabbling' to see if I could find a solution for you ... I thought that
one of the MVPs would have sorted you out by now, but it seems not.

There's usually a way to work around a problem, and I love a challenge!
I've come up with a couple of ideas so, if you're still having difficulty and
would like my help/input, please post a message.

Hi jem and Patrick,

I missed the first post in this thread -- sorry! Here's how:

First, insert a bookmark at each place you want to jump to. If that
place is in the same document as the form, it has to be in an
unprotected section so the cursor can go there. Since you're linking
to another document, this should not be a consideration.

Next, follow the instructions at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFl...nksInForms.htm to create
a hyperlink in the protected form that will work, hyperlinking to one
of the bookmarks. (Use the Bookmark button in the Insert Hyperlink
dialog to create a hyperlink to the bookmark. You can do this whether
the bookmark is in another document or in the same one.

If your users have Word 2003, clicking the hyperlink will probably pop
up a security warning. It you need to turn this off, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829072.
