I have word xp 2002. When I try to convert (save as) a doc to word 6 format I
get an error message telling me that "there is not enough memory or disk
space to convert this document" I have 512mg of RAM and over 126 gig free on
the hard drive, so I don't really believe it. Can anyone help?

Such errors often are red herrings, and are indicators of various kinds of
corruption. You should take a look at solutions provided here to try to
identify/isolate the corruption so you can eliminate it:

Note: even though your problem is not with opening Word, the same kinds of
issues can cause the problem(s) you're seeing.
