it looks like the autotext is all corrupt or using a weird font. When I
insert something like file name and path it shows as ascii type but all one character. The user had all of the users using a template directory on the server and all of the users got the same problem at the same time. Is the autotext all contained in the normal.dot file of some other file? |

Is the autotext all contained in the normal.dot file of some other file? AutoText is stored in a template. By default that's the Normal.dot template, but the AutoText dialog has a "Look in" dropdown that will direct new entries to another template. See http://www.word.mvps.org/faqs/custom...n/AutoText.htm for details. I hope the template on the server being used by all the workstations isn't Normal.dot -- that isn't a valid configuration. Every workstation should have its own Normal.dot. Anyway, it sounds like that template, whichever it is, has been corrupted. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm for help. When you get it straightened out, read http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/...buteMacros.htm and wherever you see "macros" think "AutoText entries" -- the issues are the same. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org |
