Hello,
I have created a WordTemplate that I have set the Read-Only property on with password protection. Currently when a user opens the template then "saves as" a Word document (.doc) it inherits the Read-Only properties. Is there a way to set the Template as Read-Only and allow the user to save the template as a unique word document that will now be not Read-Only? Thanks, Peter |

Hi Peter
The way to use a template is to do File New, choose the template and click OK. That creates a new document based on the template. If the template is located in the folder shown at Tools Options User Templates or Tools Options Workgroup templates, it will appear in the File New dialog. Otherwise, a user can use Windows Explorer to locate the template, and double-click the name. The default action in Windows Explorer is to create a new document from a template, and not to open it. Hope this helps. Shauna Kelly. Microsoft MVP. http://www.shaunakelly.com/word "Peter" wrote in message ...
